CØNVERT

A free Mac app by José P. Miguel. Drag a file anywhere on the Mac and press ⇧ on the way: a wheel opens under the pointer, and you drop the file on what it should become. The result lands next to the original, never over it.

Images become JPG, PNG, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP or PDF; a PDF becomes JPG, PNG, TXT, DOCX, RTF or HTML; documents become PDF, DOCX, RTF, TXT, HTML or ODT; video becomes MP4, MOV, M4A or GIF; audio becomes M4A, WAV or AIFF; anything else, a ZIP. Compress asks how much — High, Balanced, Small, or an exact size.

It asks for no permissions, has no account, and nothing leaves the Mac. It needs macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon, and it is not notarised by Apple: the first time, open it from System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway.
